Nasi Dagang: Gulai Ayam+Telur



Ingredient for Nasi Dagang:


  • 1/2 kg of 'beras nasi dagang'
  • 3 shallot +2 garlic +1.5 inch ginger + 1 stick of lemon grass*everything must fine slice
  • 3/4 of coconut milk
  • 2 tbs of fenugreek

Ingredient for chicken curry*gulai ayam:

  • 1/2 - 1 whole chicken ( cut to 10-12/depend)
  • 1 1/2 packet of curry powder*better use Cap Orang Terbang/Cap Orang Masak/Adabi
  • 1 bowl of coconut milk
  • 5 shallot+3 garlic+1/2 inc ginger*fine slice all
  • 1 packet of mix spice*staranice cinnamon stick cardamon
  • 2 chillies
  • 1/2 cup of tamarind stock*water
  • 5-7 boiled egg
  • 2-3 potatoes*cut to 4
  • 1/2 manisan( the sugar product derived from the tropical coconut tree)


Steps for Nasi Dagang:

  1. To get the nice result in rice texture here i advice to rendam beras nasi dagang for a night.
  2. Steam rice till cook*empuk
  3. After that ,that out from the steamer ,put in the large bowl together with coconut milk and slice of shallot,garlic & ginger.Then mix well for a while,
  4. Then put back on the steamer for about 10-15minute more.
  5. That out the rice and cooled down in a large bowl.
Steps chicken Curry:

  1. Heat the pan/stockpot
  2. Then saute the shallot garlic & ginger till reach the light gold colour*remember don't make it burn that will effect the gravy taste
  3. Put the curry powder then stir for a while just to make sure the 'pecah minyak' put the chicken the mix it well in curry powder
  4. After reach 'pecah minyak' put the turmeric stock and coconut milk*and some water *if the gravy to thick or not deep the chicken you can add some water
  5. Put the 'manisan' and seasoning.taste it till get the awesome taste!!!.
  6. When it boiled put all the potatoes and chillies.
  7. Last part put the boiled egg on the gravy*chicken curry.
